Half Day Essential Update

Over the last couple of years there has been a lot of case law which has tested the way we calculate holiday pay in the UK and the underlying Working Time Regulations which came into force on 1 October 1998. In addition the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) are currently reviewing the Working Time Regulations.

This course is aimed at anyone who has responsibility for determining holiday entitlement. This could be payroll, HR, General Management or advisors who need to know the background legislation, the impact case law has had on this legislation and how internal policies and procedures may need to be changed.

Anyone who has responsibility for determining holiday entitlement.
This could be payroll, HR, General Management or advisors who need to know the background legislation, the impact case law has had on this legislation and how internal policies and procedures may need to be changed.

By the end of this half day course you will be armed with a comprehensive set of course materials and tips which will help you decide what you should do to be compliant when determining entitlement to leave and pay.

You will learn, not only the legal framework delivered in a no nonsense plain English way, but will also have suggestions for immediate implementation back at your workplace.

The legal framework

  • What does the Employment Rights Act 1996 say about holiday pay
  • What does The Working Time Regulations 1998 say about annual leave & holiday pay
  • What is legally required be in the contract of employment and what is recommended

  • With normal working hours
  • With irregular working hours, including casual/zero hours contract workers
  • Who work part time including issues relating to public holidays
  • Who are agency workers protected under the Agency Worker Regulations

What should be included in holiday pay taking into account recent case law
